The building started out as the town grocery store back in the late 1800's.   It sold hay to local farmers and was the one stop meeting place for a roaring game of chess right there on the front benches under the window.  It became a gentlemen's meeting house for the North End of Deerfield.  It changed hands many times and came under disrepair when the Lion Family adopted the buiding and brought it back to some of its former glory.  They added a little cafe and served specialty beers and great sandwiches.  Eventually we bought the Lion and turned it into a full service restaurant and added two rooms with 12 Taps, 2 big screen TV's to watch the games and a full menu with a little of everything for everyone.
